These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your download, installation, access to, and use of PDF Reader - View & Edit (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App and uninstall it.
1. Eligibility
You must be old enough under the laws of your country to agree to these Terms. If you are not, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf. If you use the App for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
2. App Features
The App may provide document discovery, PDF and office-document reading, PDF annotations, search, scanning, image-to-PDF conversion, PDF merging and splitting, printing, sharing, favorites, recent files, file details, renaming, deletion, shortcuts, and PDF locking and unlocking.
Availability depends on device model, Android version, Google Play services, permissions, file format, file condition, system components, location, and third-party services. Not every feature or format will work on every device.
3. License
Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the App on a compatible device you control for lawful personal or internal business purposes.
Except where applicable law expressly permits, you may not:
- copy, sell, rent, sublicense, distribute, or commercially exploit the App;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, crack, bypass, or interfere with the App or its security measures;
- remove or alter copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices;
- use the App to distribute malicious code, commit fraud, invade privacy, or violate law;
- access, process, disclose, or distribute files or personal information without authorization;
- interfere with advertising, fabricate ad interactions, or evade fraud-prevention systems; or
- use the App in a manner that harms the App, third-party services, other users, or the public.
4. Your Files and Content
You retain your rights in files, images, scans, annotations, and other content that you lawfully own or are authorized to use. You are responsible for ensuring that your use, editing, conversion, sharing, printing, locking, deletion, and distribution of content complies with law and third-party rights.
The App generally processes documents locally. We do not obtain ownership of your document content merely because you use the App. Content sent through Android sharing, printing, file providers, or third-party services is handled by the destination you choose.
You are responsible for backing up important files. Editing, renaming, locking, unlocking, overwriting, or permanently deleting an original file may have irreversible consequences. The App does not guarantee recovery of deleted or corrupted files.
5. Editing, Saving, and Compatibility
The App saves or discards PDF edits according to the controls and confirmations shown in the interface. Storage limits, revoked permissions, concurrent file access, device shutdown, system interruption, unsupported content, or corrupted files may cause saving or rendering to fail.
We aim to support common document formats but do not guarantee correct display of every file. Encrypted, damaged, non-standard, unusually large, special-font, or complex-media files may fail to open or may differ from their original layout. The current version does not automatically run OCR on scanned or image-only PDFs; documents without a searchable text layer do not support text search or text highlighting.
6. PDF Passwords
Lock PDF applies an opening password directly to the original PDF rather than creating a replacement copy. You must keep the password secure and back up important files before using this feature.
We do not store, upload, retrieve, or recover your PDF password. A lost password, damaged file, or compatibility issue may make the PDF inaccessible. You may not use the feature to restrict files you do not have authority to control.
7. Permissions and Privacy
The full document list, global search, and certain tools depend on file or folder access. You may deny or withdraw permissions, but affected features may stop working. Selecting a file or image through a system picker authorizes the App to access that item as needed for the operation you requested.
Information processing is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
8. Advertising and Third-Party Services
The App may display splash, interstitial, native, and banner advertising. Advertisements are supplied by third-party providers. We do not endorse or guarantee advertised products, services, content, availability, or transactions. Your dealings with an advertiser or third party are between you and that party, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
The App may use Google Play services, Google ML Kit Document Scanner, Android sharing, printing and file-selection components, advertising services, or other third-party technology. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies and may change or become unavailable without our control.
9. Intellectual Property
Except for your content and third-party materials, the App, software, interface, graphics, text, logos, structure, and related materials are owned by or licensed to the App operator and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership or grant permission to use App names, marks, or branding for endorsement.
To report an alleged rights infringement, contact hkeygood@gmail.com with enough information to identify the material and establish the basis of your claim.
10. Updates and Availability
We may update the App to fix issues, improve compatibility, change features, address security, or comply with law and platform policies. An update may modify or discontinue a feature, and the latest version may be required for continued use.
We do not guarantee that the App will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently available. Device failures, system restrictions, third-party outages, network interruptions, maintenance, and events beyond reasonable control may affect availability.
11. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, compatibility, uninterrupted service, or prevention of data loss.
The App is a general document utility and does not provide legal, financial, medical, engineering, or other professional advice. Nothing in these Terms excludes statutory consumer rights or warranties that cannot legally be excluded.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App operator and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential losses, including loss of profit, business, data, files, goodwill, or opportunity, arising from the App or inability to use it.
Where direct liability may lawfully be limited, total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the App during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. If you paid nothing, liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by applicable law. These limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury, or any liability that law does not permit to be limited.
13. Termination
You may stop using and uninstall the App at any time. Access may be suspended or terminated where reasonably necessary because of a serious violation of these Terms, unlawful use, infringement, fraud, or a material legal or security risk.
Files saved in Download/PDF Reader/ or another public folder are not automatically deleted when you uninstall the App and remain your responsibility.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect product, legal, service-provider, security, or operational changes. The effective date will be updated, and material changes will be communicated where required. Continued use after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance, unless applicable law requires separate consent.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the App operator, without depriving you of mandatory consumer protections available in your country of residence. Any dispute will be handled by a court or dispute-resolution body having jurisdiction under applicable law. Before starting formal proceedings, you may contact hkeygood@gmail.com so the parties can attempt to resolve the issue informally.
16. General
If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without consent, while the App operator may transfer them as part of a merger, restructuring, financing, or asset transfer where legally permitted.
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any feature-specific notices shown in the App form the agreement governing your use of the App.
